Samsung Galaxy Note series



Samsung Galaxy Note is a series of Android-based high-end smartphones and high-end tablets developed and marketed by Samsung Electronics. The line is primarily oriented towards pen computing; all Galaxy Note models ship with a stylus pen and incorporate a pressure-sensitive Wacom digitizer. All Galaxy Note models also include software features that are oriented towards the stylus and the devices' large screens, such as note-taking and digital scrapbooking apps, and split-screen multitasking.

The Galaxy Note smartphones have been considered the first commercially successful examples of "phablets"—a class of smartphone with large screens that are intended to straddle the functionality of a traditional tablet with that of a phone. Samsung sold over 50 million Galaxy Note devices between September 2011 and October 2013. 10 million units of the Galaxy Note 3 have been sold within its first 2 months, 30 million were of the Note II, while the original Galaxy Note sold around 10 million units worldwide.
Models

Galaxy Note

At IFA Berlin in 2011, Samsung announced the original Galaxy Note. While some media outlets questioned the viability of the device due to its 5.3-inch screen , the Note received positive reception for its stylus functionality, the speed of its 1.4 GHz dual-core processor, and the advantages of such a large screen size.The Galaxy Note was a commercial success: released October 2011, Samsung announced in December 2011 that the Galaxy Note had sold 1 million units in two months. In February 2012, Samsung debuted a Note version with LTE support, and by August 2012, the Note had sold 10 million units worldwide.

Galaxy Note II

On August 29, 2012 at IFA Berlin, Samsung unveiled a successor to the Galaxy Note, the Galaxy Note II. The new model, released September 2012, featured improvements to the original Note's hardware display, a revised stylus and an upgraded digitizer with 1,024 levels of pressure sensitivity for more precise pen input, a new hardware design based on that of the Galaxy S III, along with new features such as pen gestures, split-screen multitasking, Air View , and other new features also introduced by the S III.



Galaxy Note 3 

On September 4, 2013, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Note 3, introducing a more "premium" design with a plastic leather backing, a 5.7 inch 1080p display, 3GB RAM, 13 MP camera, 32 or 64 GB storage, and expanded stylus pen functionality.
Galaxy Note 3 Neo
In January 2014, Samsung for the first time released a "downgraded" version of the Note 3, the Galaxy Note 3 Neo. It features the S-Pen, 8 MP camera, 5.5" super Amoled HD 720p display, 16 GB storage, 2 GB RAM as well as all of the Note 3's software features. For the first time, it has a Samsung Exynos Hexa 5260 processor with a quad core 1.3 GHz Cortex A7 CPU and a dual core 1.7 GHz Cortex A15 CPU with support for HMP and a Mali-T624 GPU.

Galaxy Note 4

On September 3, 2014 at IFA Berlin, Samsung unveiled a successor to the Galaxy Note 3, the Galaxy Note 4. The new model, released October 2014, introduced a new design with a plastic leather backing and metal frame, a 5.7-inch QHD display, a 16MP camera with OIS, improved S-Pen, an upgraded digitizer with 2,048 levels of pressure sensitivity and expanded functionality, fingerprint scanner, and other features taken from the Galaxy S5.

Galaxy Note Edge

Along with the Galaxy Note 4, the Galaxy Note Edge was also presented featuring a curved display of 160px flowing into the right side of the phone. To accommodate this the power button was relocated to the top side along the headphone jack and the battery shrank to 3000mAh. The features are otherwise identical to the Galaxy Note 4. Its screen size is 5.6", just 0.1" smaller compared to the Note 4.

Galaxy Note 5

The Galaxy Note 5 was announced on 13 August 2015 in New York and became available in some markets a few days later. It features a metal and glass body design; unlike previous Note models the battery is not field-replaceable and there is no Micro-SD slot for expanding storage. There are no plans to sell the device in Europe.

Tablets

Galaxy Note 8.0

At the Mobile World Congress 2013, Samsung announced the Galaxy Note 8.0. It has an 8-inch display and uses a quad-core 1.6 GHz processor and, like the Galaxy Note 10.1, supports the Samsung S-Pen.

Galaxy Note 10.1

At the Mobile World Congress 2012, Samsung announced the Galaxy Note 10.1, as an alternative to the Galaxy Tab 10.1. It has a 10.1-inch display and uses a quad-core 1.4 GHz processor and supports the Samsung S-Pen input as seen on the original Galaxy Note phone.
Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition

At the 2013 Samsung Unpacked Episode 2 event on Berlin and New York, Samsung announced the successor to the original Galaxy Note 10.1 inch tablet dubbed as the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition. Like its predecessor, it has a 10.1 inch display and now supports the improved Samsung S-Pen input also seen in the Note III and it copies the design cue of its lower-end sibling the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 which sports the unified Samsung design first used on the Samsung Galaxy S4.

Samsung Galaxy Note Pro

Galaxy Note Pro 12.2

At the 2014 Consumer Electrics Show in Las Vegas, Samsung announced the first Pro line of tablets which included a bigger Samsung Galaxy Note Pro tablet with a 12.2 inch display and also comes with the same S-Pen the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition is sporting which is the standard on the Note Series. Design wise is also similar with the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition which sports the new Samsung standard simulated stitched-leather back.

Samsung Galaxy Note 4


The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is an Android phablet smartphone developed and produced by Samsung Electronics. The Galaxy Note 4 was unveiled during a Samsung press conference at IFA Berlin on 3 September 2014 and was released globally in October 2014. It is the successor to the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, with the subsequent model unveiled on 13 August 2015.

Hardware

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 features a 2560×1440 Quad HD  WQ HD Super AMOLED 5.7-inch display with damage-resistant Gorilla Glass 4, and provides a pixel density of 518 ppi  The Note 4 comes in two variants, one powered by a 2.7 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 805 chipset with Adreno 420 GPU, the other powered by Samsung’s ARMv8-A Exynos 7 Octa SoC with two clusters of four cores; four Cortex-A57 cores at 1.9 GHz, and four Cortex-A53 cores at 1.3 GHz, which is the same processor cluster sold for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 in markets that mostly use or only have 3G , and/or '2G', such as unaltered GSM and CDMA networks, similar to how the Galaxy Note 3 is sold. The phone has metal edges with a plastic, faux leather back.

Both devices that use 4G, LTE/LTE-A & Hybrid 4G-LTE Networks are currently only sold in Canada, Australia, U.S, U.K , Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and South Korea, which have widespread 4G LTE Markets, or are solely 4G/LTE/LTE-A dependant such as Canada & Denmark, which do not use any 3G or older networks, except for HSUPA , as well as HSPA+, which is a 3G network, though considered by some to be the Original 4G.The GPU in charge in the Exynos chipset is the Mali-T760.Both variants come with 3GB of LPDDR3 RAM and 32GB of internal memory. Samsung touted new S-Pen features including tilt and rotation recognition but these features are either not implemented or not supported. The Note 4's back-cover has a strong resemblance to the Note 3, with a faux leather texture . Note 4 has a new aluminum frame design, bearing resemblance from the Samsung Galaxy Alpha. Criticism has been aimed at the lack of IP67 certification , which is present in Samsung's other flagship, the Galaxy S5.

The Note 4 features a USB 2.0 charging port instead of USB 3.0 , in favor of a new feature called Fast Charge, which Samsung claims can charge the phone from 0% to 50% in about 30 minutes and from 0% to 100% in less than 100 minutes. It features some unique sensors such as a UV sensor and heart-rate monitor,oximeter, among other, more common sensors.

The Note 4 also includes a stylus pen seamlessly incorporated into the design.

Software

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 originally shipped with Google's mobile operating system, Android, specifically KitKat 4.4.4, with its user interface modified with Samsung's custom skin named TouchWiz Nature UX 3.0. The Note 4 contains most of the original Note's software features and functions, but also adds more significant upgrades from the predecessors, such as a new multitasking interface, expanded S-Pen functions, gestures, and refreshed menus and icons.

The device can be updated to Android 5.0.1 Lollipop in many regions, bringing a new, refined UI, and new runtime. This version has been criticized for poor battery life. A further update to 5.1.1 is available, depending on the wireless carrier.

Camera

The main camera is a 16 MP autofocus camera, featuring Smart OIS . 4K video recording at 30fps and 1080p video recording at 60fps and 120fps and also it has 120fps slow motion video recording in 720p resolution. The secondary  camera is a 3.7 MP camera with an f1.9 aperture that can record 2560x1440 QHD videos and capture wide-angle pictures.

Review: YouTube Music app for Android & i OS





If you were going to reinvent MTV for a mobile generation, you'd probably come up with something like YouTube Music. It's a video-first music service that also plays in the background like you'd expect a music app to do. That sets it apart from other music apps out there, many of which give you a choice of videos or songs, but not interchangeably.But while YouTube Music offers a lot of interesting features, most of them require a subscription to the new YouTube Red service, which will set you back $10 a month -- $13 if you sign up through YouTube's iPhone app. Without Red, YouTube Music will play ads similar to what you see on YouTube proper, and several other functions won't work at all. YouTube is offering new users a 14-day free trial to Red, but to continue commercial free, you'll need to pony up

10 things to know about the you tube paid version launched:

  1. YouTube Music is first and foremost a music-video app, albeit one that doesn't forget that most people will be using it on their phones. For those times you'd rather just listen instead of watching, you can hit a toggle that switches the app to audio-only mode, which turns off the video playback and swaps in a still image. You can even turn off the screen and keep listening while you do something else.
  2. But here's the first gotcha: Audio-only mode only works for paid subscribers. I also found the audio-only toggle worked far better on a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 than on an iPhone 5, where it introduced a jarring pause.
  3. You can similarly shrink the video to a little strip at the bottom of the app, which keeps it playing in a cropped format while you look for the next video. The app will even keep playing if you switch to other tasks, like checking email -- although again only if you've paid up for Red.
  4. There are some curious omissions. For instance, there's no easy way to create a playlist to queue up a bunch of videos in a row. The app does offer "song stations," which queue up videos from artists related to the one you're on. You can toggle the range of the resulting mix with options like "less variety," "more variety" or "balanced." I started a station starting with Passenger's "Let Her Go" and so far I'm pretty happy with the "balanced" playlist it created, which included "Counting Stars" from One Republic and "Burn" by Ellie Golding.
  5. You can also play all of the videos you've thumbs-upped, which turns that grouping into a crude sort of playlist.
  6. YouTube Music is far less cluttered than competing services like Apple Music, which has more lists and tabs than you'll know what to do with. YouTube Music keeps the tabs to three -- home, hot (trending videos), and thumbs up (your favorites).
  7. Home offers recommended videos, and it's easy to find something playable. Your mileage may vary with the "hot" tab; it didn't do much for me, although I'm usually a bit out of sync with the mainstream.
  8. Finally, there's one more fun feature, which is called "offline mix tape." It automatically saves 20 audio-only songs for you based on your tastes, for when you know you're going to get spotty reception. I wish it saved the videos instead of just the audio, but this will keep the tunes turning in a pinch. Alas, offline mix tapes are disabled in the ad-supported version of YouTube Music.
  9. The app makes Google's $10-a-month music subscription a lot more attractive. Paying up not only unlocks features in YouTube Music itself, it also gets you ad-free playback on the main YouTube app, access to Google Play Music, and, down the road, some original material from YouTube stars.

G mail to warn you of emails from unsecured routes


Google plans to ramp up security at its free email service by letting users know when messages arrive via encrypted connections that could be prone to snooping or tampering.

These warnings will begin to roll out in the coming months," Eli Rubinstein and Nicolas Korzybski of the G mail security team said in a blog post this week. "While these threats do not affect G mail to G mail communication, they may affect messaging between providers."
The announcement came with study results indicating that email encryption is on the rise, along with measures to thwart spam and fraud by better authenticating messages.
However, Google said that it found regions of the internet where email encryption was being covertly thwarted and also uncovered malicious servers programmed to essentially hijack G mail messages by giving them bogus routing information.
"While this type of attack is rare, it's very concerning as it could allow attackers to censor or alter messages before they are relayed to the email recipient," Rubinstein and Korzybski said in the post.
Google, Yahoo and other online firms have been moving to boost encryption of websites and email in an effort to boost privacy amid growing concerns about hacking and surveillance.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3





Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is an Android phablet smartphone produced by Samsung Electronics. The Galaxy Note 3 was unveiled on September 4, 2013, with its worldwide release beginning later in the month. Serving as a successor to the Galaxy Note II, the Note 3 was designed to have a lighter, more upscale design than previous iterations of the Galaxy Note , and to expand upon the stylus and multitasking-oriented functionality in its software—which includes a new navigation wheel for pen-enabled apps, along with pop-up apps and expanded multi-window functionality.Samsung has sold 5 million units of the Galaxy Note 3 within its first month of sale[4] and broke 10 million units sales in just 2 months.

Hardware

The Galaxy Note 3's design was intended to carry a more upscale, "premium" look in comparison to previous Samsung devices. Although it carries a similarly polycarbonate-oriented design to other recent Samsung devices, the Galaxy Note 3 has a faux metallic bezel and a rear cover made of plastic leather with faux stitching. With a thickness of 8.3 mm , it is slightly thinner than the Galaxy Note II, and is also slightly lighter. The LTE & China version of the Galaxy Note 3  uses a 2.3 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 chip, while the international GSM-only model uses an octa-core Exynos 5420, consisting of four 1.9 GHz Cortex-A15 cores and four 1.3 GHz Cortex-A7 cores. Testing has shown similar performance for both models.. The device also includes 3 GB of RAM, a 5.7-inch 1080p Super AMOLED display, a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera capable of filming videos in 1080p at 60 fps and 4K resolution at 30 fps ,16 & 32 or 64 GB of internal storage, and a 3200 mAh battery.

As with other Galaxy Note series devices, the Galaxy Note 3 ships with an S Pen stylus, which has been updated to use a more symmetrical shape. The Galaxy Note 3 is also the first smartphone to include support for USB 3.0, which enables faster data transfers and charging when connected to a compatible port.

The Galaxy Note 3 was first made available in black, white, and pink colors. In December 2013, Samsung introduced three new color schemes for select markets; black with gold-colored trim, white with rose gold-colored trim, and red with silver-colored trim.

Software

The Galaxy Note 3 comes with Android 4.3 "Jelly Bean" and Samsung's proprietary TouchWiz NatureUX 2.5 user interface and software. Additional pen-oriented features have been added to the Note 3's software; removing the stylus from its compartment  activates an "Air Command" pie menu which provides shortcuts to pen-oriented features such as Action Memos , Screen Write , Pen Window (which allows users to draw pop-up windows to run certain apps inside), the search tool S Finder, and Scrapbook. The multi-window functionality has also been updated with expanded app support, the ability to run multiple instances of a single app, and the ability to drag and drop content between apps. The device also ships with a news aggregator app known as My Magazine, accessible by swiping up from the bottom of the screen, and an updated version of S Note

On January 13, 2014, an update to Android 4.4 "KitKat" was first made available through Samsung Kies in Poland for LTE models.The update adds user interface tweaks such as a camera shortcut on the corner of the lock screen, options for setting default launcher and text messaging applications, support for printing, and a new location settings menu for tracking and controlling the use of location tracking by apps. 4.4 also makes significant changes to the handling of secondary storage on the device for security reasons; applications' access to the SD card is now restricted to designated, app-specific directories only, while full access to internal primary storage is still allowed. Although this behavior has existed by default since Android 3.0 "Honeycomb", OEMs such as Samsung previously modified their distributions of Android to retain the previous behavior, allowing applications to have unlimited access to SD card contents.


When was the first computer invented?

    

  There is no easy answer to this question due to the many different classifications of computers. The first mechanical computer, created by Charles Babbage in 1822, doesn't really resemble what most would consider a computer today. Therefore, this document has been created with a listing of each of the computer firsts, starting with the Difference Engine and leading up to the computers we use today.
Note: Early inventions which helped lead up to the computer, such as the abacus, calculator, and tablet machines, are not accounted for in this document.
The word "computer" was first used

The word "computer" was first recorded as being used in 1613 and originally was used to describe a human who performed calculations or computations. The definition of a computer remained the same until the end of the 19th century, when the industrial revolution gave rise to machines whose primary purpose was calculating.
First mechanical computer or automatic computing engine concept

     In 1822, Charles Babbage conceptualized and began developing the Difference Engine, considered to be the first automatic computing machine. The Difference Engine was capable of computing several sets of numbers and making hard copies of the results. Babbage received some help with development of the Difference Engine from Ada Lovelace, considered by many to be the first computer programmer for her work and notes on the Difference Engine. Unfortunately, because of funding, Babbage was never able to complete a full-scale functional version of this machine. In June of 1991, the London Science Museum completed the Difference Engine No 2 for the bicentennial year of Babbage's birth and later completed the printing mechanism in 2000.
Analytical EngineIn 1837, Charles Babbage proposed the first general mechanical computer, the Analytical Engine. The Analytical Engine contained an Arithmetic Logic Unit (ALU), basic flow control, and integrated memory and is the first general-purpose computer concept. Unfortunately, because of funding issues, this computer was also never built while Charles Babbage was alive. In 1910, Henry Babbage, Charles Babbage's youngest son, was able to complete a portion of this machine and was able to perform basic calculations.

The Little Trap



After considering Alan Alda, Beverly Sills, Kermit the Frog, and Billy Martin as celebrity endorsers IBM chose Charlie Chaplin's The Little Tramp character—played by Billy Scudder—for a series of advertisements based on Chaplin's films. The very popular and award-winning $36-million marketing campaign made the star of Modern Times—a film that expresses Chaplin's opposition to big business, mechanization, and technological efficiency—the (as Creative Computing described him) "warm cuddly" mascot of one of the world's largest companies.

Chaplin and his character became so widely associated with IBM—Time stated that "The Tramp ... has given  a human face"—that others used his bowler hat and cane to represent or satirize the company. Although the Chaplin estate sued those like Otrona who used the trademark without permission, PC Magazine's April 1983 issue had 12 advertisements that referred to the Little Tramp.
